Sara Godoy Brito
Clinical Therapist Intern
I am a Master of Social Work student at Ferris State University with a clinical concentration, currently completing my internship at COR. I specialize in providing individual services to adults and teens, couples counseling, and affirming support for the LGBTQ+ community.
I understand that sharing your insecurities, fears, and pain is a vulnerable step and can be scary. My committed is to create a safe space where you can be yourself and come as you are. I believe healing can only happen when we feel secure and supported.
As a bilingual therapist fluent in Portuguese and English, I understand the unique challenges of cultural transition and navigating spaces where you feel different. I recognize the constant, subtle stress of figuring out which spaces are safe and the impact of homesickness, cultural disconnection, and feelings of isolation.
In our work together, my focus is ensuring you feel seen, valued, and genuinely understood as we unpack difficult situations or experiences at your own pace. This self-exploration helps you practice more kindness toward yourself and feel validated in navigating personal and social challenges.
I am currently receiving training in Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and the Gottman Method. I draw from these and other therapeutic tools flexibly to meet your unique needs and preferences. This deeper self-awareness allows us to gently explore, and address issues related to attachment patterns, relationship dynamics, and the impact of past trauma on your daily life. Together, we will explore your values and foster a more whole and grounded sense of self, equipping you to navigate significant life transitions and build secure relationships.
Focusing on your mental health can bring a mix of emotions, and I'm here to help you navigate them and be a support in this process. Whether this is your very first time reaching out or you're looking for a fresh start, I'm grateful for the opportunity to partner with you now.
