Erika Damon
Licensed Master social Worker
I’m a firm believer in the impact of meeting people where they are and helping to identify their own individual strengths and abilities.
Everyone comes to therapy for different reasons and working alongside someone to support their self-determination is my goal. I utilize an individualized approach with each client and pull from elements of strengths based, solution focused, CBT, and DBT modalities. I have experience working with children, adolescents, families, and adults in a variety of settings including outpatient, crisis, and schools.
I strive to provide a safe, nonjudgmental, and affirming place for all. I have a great deal of experience in working with LGBTQIA+ and neurodiverse children and adolescents that are having difficulty with stress, anxiety, trauma, and struggles with self-esteem and self-concept. With over a decade of direct work in schools, I love to provide families with tools to better understand and navigate the education system including the process for special education.
I hold a BA in Psychology from Michigan State University and a Master of Social Work from Wayne State University. In addition to my work experience, I also draw on previous volunteer opportunities including Ele’s Place where I served as a co-facilitator of children’s bereavement groups and as advocate for survivors of sexual violence with MSU’s Center for Survivors.
When I’m not working I enjoy spending time with family, reading, playing cozy video games, exercising, and baking.
